Electrophysiology

Cardiac arrhythmias are disturbances in the rate or rhythm of the heart’s electrical system. These disturbances can range from inconvenient to life-threatening. The Henrico Doctors’ Hospital team of specially trained electrophysiology nurses and anesthesia will work with the electrophysiologist to provide your quality care. These disorders can be treated with medications or with a wide range of electrophysiology, mapping, and ablation procedures as well as devices, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator (ICD). Our lab features new state-of-the-art equipment allowing us to treat arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, using the most advanced surgical techniques for:

  • Atrial fibrillation (AFIB)(the most common heart rhythm disorder)
  • Atrial flutter Tachycardia (heart beats too fast)
  • Bradycardia (heart beats too slow)
  • Supraventricular tachycardia
  • Wolf Parkinson White syndrome
  • Ventricular tachycardia
  • Neurogenic disorders such as syncope
  • Other complex arrhythmias
