Meet Martha, a breast cancer survivor who received treatment at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors' Hospital.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, but it can also affect men. With early detection and treatment, breast cancer survival rates are very good. At Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, we offer complete breast care close to home.
Our program provides extensive services and facilities for breast cancer care. Breast Cancer Screening and Diagnosis
Breast cancer screening is important for early detection of breast cancer. We offer digital mammography, 3-D mammography breast ultrasound (handheld and automated), breast MRI, breast density assessment and a wide range of biopsy techniques at our Advanced Diagnostic Breast Center.
If imaging tests detect breast cancer, you will undergo a breast biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. We provide quick and accurate diagnosis as well as the latest in molecular testing for breast cancer. Your treatment team will use your diagnostic test results to develop an individualized treatment plan for recovery.
Free Breast Cancer Screenings
Henrico Doctors' Hospital partners with the Virginia Department of Health to offer a program called Every Woman’s Life. The program provides free health screenings for the prevention and early detection of cancer cancer for qualified women.
Screening tests are simple and quick. Your appointment may include a free mammogram, Pap test, clinical breast exam and pelvic exam. If the tests find cancer, you may qualify for health coverage through Medicaid. A case-worker can assist you in applying for financial assistance and Medicaid.
