Our healthcare teams’ stories
Kim Gardner is the lung nurse navigator at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Having lost her mother to lung cancer, Kim is passionate about helping relieve pain and stress from her patients along their journey and being an integral part of the advancements Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute has made with lung cancer over the years.
Wendy enjoys working with oncology survivors to understand how to continue their journey after surviving cancer.
Susan is an oncology social worker at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. She enjoys working alongside a team that strives to have a positive impact on patients and families as they begin their cancer journey.
Amy is the director of nurse navigators for Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Having been an oncology nurse for 30 years, Amy understands the importance of a cancer navigator and the responsibility to educate patients while they undergo diagnosis and help them remain compliant to their treatment.
Geoff is the administrative director at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Geoff’s history with oncology spans 15 years, starting out as a radiation therapist, then into education up until his administrative role at Sarah Cannon. Geoff enjoys caring for and building a long-term relationship with his patients.
Sarah’s journey started as a patient at the Infusion Center at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, where she developed an interest in nursing. Now, as the infusion center manager, Sarah builds upon her unique experience as both a nurse and a patient every day, treating her team like family and developing deep connections with her patients.
Jan is a breast nurse navigator at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Returning to school to pursue a career in nursing, Jan realized her passion to provide patients care, education and support when given a diagnosis of cancer.
Dr. Laurie Cuttino, MD, is a radiation oncologist at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Laurie is proud to work at an American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited radiology oncology center, one that provides the highest quality radiation oncology services in the region.
Dr. Graham Bundy, MD, is a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. By taking a multidisciplinary approach and working with a group of physicians and specialists, Graham is able to offer patients the most advanced approach to lung cancer treatment possible.
Dr. Elke Friedman, MD, is a medical oncologist at Virginia Cancer Institute and participates in the lung cancer program at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. Elke’s favorite part about working at Sarah Cannon is their multidisciplinary system, where all disciplines of cancer treatment are under one roof. This method of organization gives Elke the ability to provide her patients the most effective and top-notch treatment.
Mary is the administrative assistant at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. Working in the hospital for 29 years, Mary is known to greet patients with a smile when they first enter Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. She takes the time to get to know patients and their families, so every step of their journey they feel confident and supported.
Theresa is the radiation oncology manager at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. Working in radiation oncology for 25 years, Theresa and her team provide patients with expert guidance and optimal radiosurgery treatment in a safe and efficient manner.
Dr. Cecelia Boardman has been an oncologist for 18 years. Working at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, Cecelia has total control over her patients, from diagnosis to surgery, to chemotherapy to long-term follow-up care. Cecelia is proud to offer the latest treatment options and enjoys connecting with patients throughout their cancer journey.
Dr. Tyler Ford is a gynecologic oncologist at Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. Tyler specializes in the treatment of certain gynecologic cancers, including minimally invasive techniques such as robotic surgery. The combination of all his experiences over the years with patients reaffirms his passion for oncology every day he walks in to Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute.
