Breast cancer screening and diagnosis

Breast cancer screening is one of the most proactive steps a woman can take in the early detection of breast cancer, and it's a primary service related to women’s care. At Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, we offer a complete spectrum of imaging services, including digital mammography, 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, breast density assessment and a range of biopsy techniques.

If your imaging test detects breast cancer, you will undergo a breast biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. We provide quick and accurate diagnosis, as well as the latest technology in molecular testing for breast cancer. Your treatment team will use your diagnostic test results to develop an individualized treatment plan for your recovery.

High-Risk Breast Clinic

Henrico Doctors' Hospital is now home to a High-Risk Breast Clinic. Our clinic gives women classified as high risk for getting breast cancer (those women who have an increased likelihood of developing breast cancer) access to supplemental screenings to help detect the disease in its earliest stages.

Our breast health specialists work together to identify if you should be considered high risk and if you should consider supplemental screenings. We offer the following supplemental screening options at the High-Risk Breast Clinic:

  • Abbreviated breast magnetic resonance imaging (ABMRI)
  • Contrast mammogram (CEM)
  • Whole breast ultrasound
